January Meeting Overview and February Read!

At our last meeting, we had a lively discussion about our book club (and wore fancy pink and white corsages. Y'all who didn't attend missed out)!
We talked about the things that were working and the things that might be improved upon. It was agreed that our book club has been a great friend-shipping opportunity, and we all loved the variety of delicious foods and books that we read this past year!
We brainstormed theme ideas but decided it was best to stick to the "MOM" selecting from the genre of her choice.
We discussed making a greater effort to actually discuss the books (we are, after all, a book club).
In order to get the most out of our book discussions we came up with the following ideas:

-READ the book each month before the meeting.
-MOM will prepare discussions questions ahead of time and take a stronger lead in guiding the book club discussions.
-TAKE NOTES or jot down thoughts or questions while
reading the book.
-TRY to stay on topic.

These ideas will help us to have more lively book discussions at our meetings.

Finally, we drew names from a hat! Jenny Jo was chosen as our first MOM for 2011!
We will be discussing James Patterson's 1ST TO DIE (the first book in his Women's Murder Club series).
Meet at Jenny Jo's house on Tuesday, February 8th at 8:30 pm.
(If you are interested in knowing who will be MOM in the coming months please see the side bar of our blog.)

Hey, y'all. July 12th is Andy's bday, so I am anticipating a conflict of events that night. Can we rearrange the July date to accomodate? Y'all let me know how you feel.

As a post script, lemme just say how much I love our book club. I appreciate all the trouble y'all went to for those "special" corsages. Word.
